My  Story

Hello, stranger — welcome to my world.

My name is Jules Quioc Dagonet Zahur (SHE), born under the French patron name of Saint Julie in Paris, France. On stage, I’m known as The Good Girl. I have learned the hard way that goodness is very subjective.

I’m a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Please don’t call me Doctor — the only thing I’m currently operating on is my punchline. I also hold an MBA (Masters in Business Administration) because understanding both animals and business seemed like a useful career survival kit.

My first job was in Beijing, China, giving conferences in Chinese on the dermatological benefits of pet shampoos. (Yes, I told jokes in Mandarin. No, they don’t translate well. Something about “smoking being bad for our comrades” — it’s a long story.)

Most recently, I was the Director of the School of Fashion & Textiles at the University for the Creative Arts. How did I get there from being a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine? I am living proof that all ways lead to Rome, and that your career can take you as far as you dare to imagine. I loved the presentation side of management — I suppose that was the clue all along.

I’m The Good Girl — a Paris-born, Beijing-tested, London-based stand-up comedian.

Also: wife, mother of three, and unafraid to dive in headfirst.

Mission

I am not just doing a show, I'm starting a movement for all the good girls out there who are slowly realising that being a good girl means being good to others at the expense of being good to themselves. You know what? Fuck that shit.

Time to be good to ourselves first. Time to reconnect with our emotions. Time to set up some boundaries. Time to start believing that we matter too. Time to say no, time to say 'I', time to draw the f***ing line.

You don't have to be a girl to join in. There are boys out there who were raised to be good girls.

There are hundreds of millions of us!

How very French of me to start a rebellion, isn't it?

And off with their heads! (metaphorically of course)

Vision

I am launching a new kind of standup comedy. I would call it serious standup if it didn't sound so boring, but it is stand-up comedy with a message. I want to make you laugh. I also want to make you think, and maybe that the experience will change you.

Comedy is cheaper than therapy!
